We
have lived here on this lovely upland farm since the 'sixties' at first
renovating the farm house and keeping abreast of the farming activities
then gradually developing farm buildings into holiday accommodation
and managing the land under Countryside Stewardship schemes.
ENVIRONMENTAL
QUALITY is being acheived with an increase in wild life, with dragon
flies, butterflies, birds and plant species.
Wild life
is returning with mixed hedgerows and new plantations, where orchids
now thrive in spring.

View
our extensive gardens which
we have opened for the National Garden Scheme for the last 14 years.
Each cottage has gardens or terrace to view bird life.
Carr
Wood (opposite) is a very special ancient woodland where bluebells,
honeysuckle, marsh marigolds, violets and wild garlic thrive. Follow
the woodland trail and maybe a fox will run across your path.
Half a mile
down stream from Carr Wood, Overdale brook feeds
a
trout lake, which we keep stocked with trout where guests
can try their hand at informal fishing and teach their children. See
dragon flies here and badgers abound.
A
network of farm walks
link all these areas and there are quiet sheltered corners in the gardens
to sit and relax.
Another activity
we offer is tennis. Our
hard tennis court, recently re-conditioned is in a superb setting,
where we once trained ponies on a fibre ménage!
We Hope you
enjoy this beautiful corner of Derbyshire as we do and feel revived and
relaxed after your stay here !
